A New Studio in Florida

The Devoted Classicist is heading to South Florida for a couple of weeks in preparation for setting up a new Field Office for John Tackett Design to better serve the area from Jupiter to Miami.  With Ian MacDougald as office manager, the new studio will be headed by Hector Alexander who will also continue with his own distinguished projects in addition to sometime collaborations.  More about this new design service facility will follow as plans are finalized.

Hopefully a new article will be posted before departure to the sunny beaches.  But certainly, there will be even more of a back-up of postings on return.

Illustrations from DECORATIVE DESIGNS BY GRAHAM RUST.

  1. Congratulations on your expansion! And thank you for the Graham Rust paintings, as one is a great fancier of his work, and it is always such a pleasure to see it. Reggie

  2. Thank you, Reggie. I have been a great admirer of Mr. Rust's work, ever since meeting him at the opening of an exhibition of his work at the rare book store owned by my friends John and Jane Stubbs about 24 years ago.

  4. Congratulations, Mr Tackett! My best wishes for a very successful venture.

Graham Rust's mural work has long been a favorite of mine - when I first glimpsed the image above, I thought "that looks like ... " and to my great pleasure it was. I shall dig out his books tomorrow.

    Again, congratulations and best wishes!

  5. Thanks, Blue, for these kind words and all the support you have given my blog. The first illustration is a design for a chimneyboard, a decorative panel to cover a firebox out of season (as you know, but for the information of other readers). The second was painted on a cushion, holding a huge pearl between its claws on a sandy background scattered with pearls.

  6. Oh goody! Some new talent for the neighborhood. Please keep in touch and let me buy you a tall, cool ice tea some afternoon when you are in the area. Congratulations.
